Being on time is one of the most basic things you will need to do while here. If you know that you will be late for a hit time you must inform someone. Accountability is taken VERY seriously here and communication is key. Everyone is human, people mess up and sleep through alarms. You must find a way to avoid this as much as possible. UCMJ action is a possibility for issues regarding accountability.
Graduating here with a "Meets Standards" 1059 is easy to do if you understand the material and study. It is also easy to set yourself apart from your peers but volunteering to take part in various opportunities for leadership that the company has provided. Ask your student leadership if you are interested.
The MPs on post are extremely strict about speeding just like any other base. Soldiers have been given tickets for going 2 MPH so be careful. If you get a ticket let your student leadership know immediately so that the CoC can be notified before the blotter does it for you. If you get pulled over twice you will lose your driving privileges on post. (see picture of Ft. Gordon Fines)
Class is from 0830-1630.
During the first week of class:
1. Mon-Wed are admin days and briefings
2. Thursday is when the first lecture begins.
3. The Friday before (or the following Monday) class begins, you will be informed of your hit times and locations.
Taking leave/passes while here as a student is non-existent for all intents and purposes. Mileage passes during 4-days may be approved on a case-by-case basis (pending covid considerations).
You will be told what classroom you will be in by Wednesday.
Everyone will have federal holidays off, of course, but not every holiday wil be a 4-day weekend. Some classes will have 3 and others may have 4 based on POI time requirments. You should ask questions about this during the first week of class as only the schoolhouse would know.
Pay issues are common and they unfortunately take longer to get processed by the installation fianance office than they should. If you have issues, bring them up immediately to get the process started. When bringing up a pay issue please provide your LES and AOP (if able) so the OPS NCO and S1 can effectively process the inquiry in a timely manner.
If you are unsure if you got paid the right amount select the "Travel Voucher Advice of Payment (AOP)" section below the LES tab, on MyPay.
